I am a Social Ecologist that uses systems-thinking approach to develop a better understanding of the interactions between humans and their environments, within the context of health impacts. The complex problems facing health scientists today require multi-faceted tactics to research on exposures and risk. We must manage the human/environment interface not only by minimizing toxicant exposure, but by learning how human activity, perceptions, and behavior affect health at the individual, community, and global levels.
My interdisciplinary background is compiled from Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Analysis, and Demographics. This culmination of social, environmental, and health studies drives my research interests; specifically, the question of how human behavior and activities might influence social, natural, and physical environments that can lead directly or indirectly to human health-related outcomes.
